SOILmgt is strongly aware of the critical importance of subsoil structure in profitable food production systems and associated natural landscapes.
Improvements in subsoil structure via the use of regenerative land management practices (loosening of compacted layers, stabilisation of dispersive soil) will boost water-holding capacity, enhance root-zone aeration, provide a better habitat for beneficial soil organisms, and maybe increase carbon accumulation through improved root growth. View the ‘Did you know?‘ section (under ‘Facts & Resources‘) to find out more about these crucial issues.
Soil acidity is an associated soil constraint on many Australian farms that adversely affects plant growth and also requires treatment.
